Sleep Disorders

Approximately 42 million Americans have Sleep Apnea – as prevalent as diabetes and asthma combined. 25% of middle aged men and 9% of middle aged women suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). The disorder takes its name from the Greek word "Apne" which means without breath. People with OSA frequently stop breathing repeatedly during their sleep.

Untreated OSA can result in

  • Hypertension
  • Cardiovascular diseases, arrhythmias, heart attack, and heart failure
  • Strokes
  • Type II Diabetes
  • Mood disorders (anxiety and/or depression)
  • Increased morbidity and mortality
  • Obesity

Drs. Choslovsky, Wroblewski, and Karupaiah are all specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of Sleep Disorders.

To diagnose the condition, we offer a highly specialized test called a Nocturnal Polysomnogram which evaluates a patient’s sleep patterns, respiratory events, and cardiac rhythms during an overnight stay at our office supervised by registered sleep technologists in our on-site Sleep Lab. Insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, narcolepsy and restless leg syndrome are common disorders which we also diagnose and treat.

Pulmonology is classified as an internal medicine subspecialty. A pulmonologist is a physician who possesses specialized knowledge and skill in the diagnosis and treatment of bronchial & lung diseases including: Asthma, Cancer, Chronic Bronchitis, COPD, Emphysema, Flu, Occupational Respiratory Disease, Pulmonary fibrosis, Sarcoidosis, and Tuberculosis.

In our office, we provide pulmonary consultation, treatment, and follow-up, chest x-rays, EKG’s, complete pulmonary function testing (PFT), and oximetry.

Internal Medicine

Internal Medicine is the branch and specialty of medicine concerning the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of diseases in adults. Internists are sometimes referred to as the “doctor’s doctor” because they are often called upon to act as consultants to other physicians to help solve puzzling diagnostic problems. Doctors of internal medicine treat the whole person.

We take care of our own patients with chronic lung conditions, and also serve as consultants to other physicians. All our doctors are accepting new patients for primary care internal medicine services.
